Polk Audio I-Sonic ES2 HD Radio with Tagging Review

Here are some pros, cons, and comments from various reviews and blogs across the internet on the Polk I-Sonic, which allows HD Radio tagging.

Pros : Stylish exterior. Delivers very good sound. iTunes tagging is great. Reviews show that the I-Sonic ES2 has better sound quality and many more features than Bose's clock radio, Wave Radio. Easy to use, user friendly.

Cons : Slightly more expensive for this new technology.

Comments : The I-Sonic ES2 is a very high quality audio system, and it sounds better and also has more features than many stereos, including Bose's Wave Radio. HD Radio Tagging programming is still being developed, but this is a very good system.

The Polk I-Sonic sounds fantastic. It features Polk’s “I-Sonic” technology. The ES2 comes with a four-speaker array with two speakers in front and two in back. Although my review showed that stereo separation could have been improved, that is to be expected to some extent when your speakers are mere inches apart. The good news is that the PPolk I-Sonic ES2 is able to create an incredibly full sound considering its compact size and the sound does a good job filling rooms.  You can experience crisp highs down to a surprisingly solid upper-bass section, the I-Sonic ES2 does pack one heck of a punch.

The iTunes Tag button on the I-Sonic ES2’s is located on its front panel. The remote control also allows you to “tag” songs broadcast by HD Radio stations.

The I-Sonic ES2 will then store information about the tagged songs to its memory and it will transfer the songs tag to an iPod when docked. Later, when you sync your iPod with your computer, iTunes automatically presents the songs in a new Tagged play list for you to preview, buy if so you choose, and download. The iTunes Tagging feature is a great way to discover new music and quickly and easily add it to one’s collection.

Polk is first HD Radio receiver supporting iTunes tagging and it is now available at retail. Polk Audio's I-Sonic ES 2 can be found at over 170 Apple Store locations nationwide, as well as the Apple Online Store, the Polk Audio web site, select Best Buy stores in June, and of course here, at HD Radio Review.
