What is HD Radio Tagging with iTunes? We will explain what Tagging is.
"Tagging" is short for iTunes Tagging, which is a process that lets users select the song they are listening to on an HD Radio station and then save the song for purchasing at a later time. It is very easy to do, and a great way to stay up with the latest music. To take advantage of this new, very cool feature, you need three things: a docking iPod which is an audio/video component that includes an HD Radio tuner, iPod dock with a "Tag" button; and you also need a local radio station that's broadcasting an HD Radio signal that has enabled tagging, which almost all HD Radio stations are now doing.
Lets review how it works in more detail. As you are listening to a ratio station broadcasting a tag-enabled HD Radio signal, you just press the "Tag" button when you hear a song that you would like to purchase. The HD Radio component then saves the song information (but not the song itself) in its memory. Then, later, when you dock your iPod to the radio device, the information automatically transfers to your iPod. And the next time you sync your iPod to your computer, your tagged selections will appear as a list in iTunes, which gives you the option of purchasing them through the iTunes Store. The tagged songs you elect to purchase are then downloaded to your PC's iTunes library, and copied to your iPod for listening anytime, anywhere.
